Viacom Vs. Google's YouTube

While I love YouTube I definitely think Viacom is going to win the case here. I definitely feel that YouTube should have been aware of the copyright infrigement. The Website definitely induces users to post pirated material to an extent. And lastly the web site profits from the violations. Since case law states that if any of these acts occur a website can be liable, I feel Google will be. However they will continue to try to prove that upon each request to remove material they acted, and that they were unaware of the pirated material until they were asked to move it. While there is evidence of YouTube taken action against pirated material, their were definitely instances where they probably did not. Hopefully YouTube and Viacom can come to some type of agreement and perhaps make arrangements so that both companies can profit. YouTube suggests that have helped Viacom's business by creating buzz. While it has created some buzz it has also taken away some viewers which is what they need to profit. Therefore through good business hopefully we will see both companies work out a plan for the future.
